On a beautiful sunlit day, the U18 Westonbirt School rugby team had a fantastic opportunity to showcase their skills and spirit. However, due to late injuries, we had to make some adjustments to the lineup, which impacted our game understanding in certain positions. Despite these challenges, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination throughout the match.
In an exciting first half before the half-term break, Westonbirt School delivered some of the best-built tries of the season, thanks to the efforts of Luca B and Will R. Their combination play within just 10 minutes was a highlight, showcasing the players' development and teamwork. This was a pivotal learning experience for the team, and the positive feedback from the coaching staff reflected their hard work and dedication.
However, the match took a turn as our defence struggled to hold against a resolute Clifton High team. Unfortunately, we allowed Clifton High to score 31 points, which highlighted areas for improvement moving forward.
Despite the scoreline, every student played with genuine determination and a strong team spirit, making the school proud. Their commitment to the game and to each other was evident, and it’s clear that they have taken valuable lessons from this match.
As we look ahead, the players certainly deserve a well-earned break and we are all excited to return to the pitch after half-term to continue building on the progress made.
Final score: Westonbirt School 17 - 31 Clifton High.
Let’s keep pushing forward!
