Saturday saw the U16’s host Hereford Cathedral School, on our newest pitch which was completed over the summer.
In a very competitive game both teams looked to capitalise on their attacking strengths, with Westonbirt scoring first through Henry OB, converted by Oscar FR.
Hereford scored just before halftime making it 7 - 5 to Westonbirt.
The second half played in a similar intensity with Hereford scoring first, making it 7 - 12.
This brought about some fantastic passages of play from both teams, and the Westonbirt defence led by Fred H kept the Hereford team at bay. Hereford broke the deadlock and scored again making it 7 - 17, with a quarter of the game left.
This spurred the Westonbirt attack to take the game to Hereford, and kept them in half.
Freddie R broke the Hereford line scoring a fantastic solo try, running half the pitch to score. 12 - 17.
This lifted the team to work hard and eventually break the Hereford try line for a third time with Henry OB scoring his second try, and Oscar FR converting.
Final score
Westonbirt 19 - 17 Hereford Cathedral School.
